Hi
Luigi is our 1965 500F S1 who, due to work and house renovation, has been off the road for the best part of 5yrs. Sorry!
However, as a result, he does now have a nice new dry garage and we are working on getting him back on the road.

We have replaced the ignition bits and carburettor and rebuilt the starter and dynamo so he now runs better than he has ever done.
New master cylinder has been fitted and this has resulted in having to replace the associated brake pipes. Just got the front-rear pipe to do and then bleed the system.
Hinge pins and drive shaft boots after that and we should be ready for the mot. Wiper motor also rebuilt and new mechanism fitted (where we discovered differences between S1 and S2!)
Sorting electrical issues is made intersting as his wiring loom was sprayed the same colour as the rest of him. As a result the cause of every electrical issue is the red wire!

We are also collecting parts together for a full restoration.
Being an S1, Luigi has 8 bolt door hinges rather than the later 4 bolt hinge doors. Is it just the outer hinge bracket that is different between the two door types? Can we just swap the outer hinge brackets over for a direct fit?

Cheers
Anthony, Lucie & G

When replacing hinges you can get either just the pins or pins and outer hinges together. The inner bit is part of the door. Problem is I have only ever seen the two bolt hinges for sale and you need the four bolt ones. You must also be very careful when taking the old hinges off to not damage the door part. Good luck

ohh dear now Sean is getting the geeky facts bug...

"OttoBulloni" the crossover from D to F... March -July 1965 about 250 known in Italy.
other than the 8 bolt door hinges (and associated body changes) the car should have the D style seats with rubber rather than metal springs, Door handles and window winders aluminum, as should be the front indicators mustache pieces and hub caps. The car also had the same early style exhaust as the N/D. Suspension stiffened as per all later cars.

:)

Hi
Thanks for the information.
It seems that over the last 52 years Luigi had become a bit of a bitsa
Wipers- are now S2 type (as we got the wrong mechanism)
Inner door cards- are D, but have 6" holes cut in them for speakers
Door hinges- S1, although it seems Ricambi will be selling S1 outer hinges in the near future which fit S2 doors.Have attached a photo which is hopefully the right way up!
Seats- have metal springs
Front panel is an L and the indicators are later type
Pretty sure the wheel trims are stainless

Unfortunately didn't get a chance to fit the new brake pipe at the weekend as we ended up stripping down my old Grifter with my son.
We did, however, establish that the reason the doors don't shut properly is due to the door seals being too big.

Thanks
Anthony
