Hi.

I own a 1962 Fiat 500 D. Recently I have noticed that my 500 is not running smoothly when driving and misfires while driving. I crawled home and there was no power due to the continuous misfires. I pulled the sparkplug leads out one my one and noticed the one was burnt. I cut the end of the rubber off and bent the inside wire over the edge of the lead. I put it back into the gold cap and pushed it I tot the distributor cap. Inthen checked the spacing of the points in the distributor and they look good. I took her for a drive the next morning and she still jumped around and had barely any power. As I pulled on the sparkplug lead to take it out of the the distributor the lead came out of the gold cap leaving it in the distributor cap. I managed to get it back on and put it back in the distributor.

Can someone please advise me on what to do with this continuous misfire. The sparkplug leads have recently been replaced and the distributor has been for a service. I'm sure it's that one burnt lead that is not connected properly and is losing a spark but I'm lost and getting frustrated because the car keeps misfiring after so many attempts to fix it. Thank you so much!

Sorry but I think you need new leads again , get some high quality leads, don't use the type that have burnt again.
Make sure where the leads connect are not broken , don't have any old bit stuck in.
New spark plugs?
When distributor refitted was timing correctly set?

Agree, go for new good quality leads that are not supposed to separate when you are pulling them out, better buy new spark plugs if they are not new or correct B6HS type.
If problem continues check the distributor adjustment/timing and after that if problem continues go for valve clearances and carburetor cleaning/adjustment. It is good to check all the above for a healthy engine.
Please report back.

Sounds to me like one lead was not properly pushed home into the cap and has been arcing and burnt away the contact surfaces so replacements are the only way to go
