I wanted to make this video for a while, and finally here it is!

Not sure if it's understandable, but it was such a massive amount of work that I just wanted to finish it and upload it asap!

Thoughts? :worship:

Very good video Adriano, well explained and produced.

To explain a non synchro gearbox to someone in English when it's not your first language has got to be congratulated. Trying to do it English to another English speaking person is hard enough. You even coloured matched your shoes to the carpet.:D

Thank you very much for the nice feedback guys! After all the work it took me, I was a little nervous of other fellow 500 lovers reaction to it... :D

You make it look so easy! I'm having a hard time mastering the gear shifts as well. I can't seem to find that "sweet spot" in the gears so they don't grind and for me not to pop it in which I know is not good. I will keep referring to this video. Thanks for posting it!

Just make sure that the clutch is indeed disengaging completely, and then practice practice practice! It's fun to do! ;)

Excellent Adriano,
I feel almost inspired to keep my non synchro box in my 500D.

I just watched some of your other 500 videos and thoroughly enjoyed them.
Lets have some more

I'm glad you enjoyed, that's what I hope to achieve when I make them!
I think I'm going to make a video about the Mille Miglia next, cause they will be going thru Rome on friday... but I have plenty of 500 videos planned, so stay tuned... and in July there will be the 500 meeting in Garlenda for the 60th anniversary that should be huge!

Really good Adriano.
I fully agree with your comments at the end of the video, but even with the synchromesh box it helps to use the double-de-clutch technique because the synchro isn't the best.

Absolutely! I pretty much always double clutch in all older cars... I used to own a '73 x1/9 and that was the only way to shift, since the synchros were pretty worn out :rolleyes::rolleyes:
