It has been a while since I have posted anything. I used to take my car to shows all the time and I think opening and closing the engine lid tons of times the hinges decided to snap off. I want a local body shop to weld and fabricate new hinges. I drive it with the tag zip tied to the engine. Does anyone else have ideas as an alternative to these weak hinges?

That doesn't look like an original rear support panel, and if so, I expect that is sufficient explanation.
I have known those hinge pins to get stiff through lack of lubrication; even a drop of oil once a year would help, and grease the pin whenever re-assembling.
But now that it has happened I would either replace with an original panel or have that one welded back together, which shouldn't be too challenging for most people handy with a welder.

PS. I do know of a (quite expensive) source for a genuine, unused panel.
