Just placed a big order with FD Ricambi https://www.fiat500ricambi.com/
758 euros! 133 of that is shipping. This will bring my total parts orders to around 1000 euros. This will completely rebuild the engine and transmission. 30/70 cam ordered from supplier in Italy for 170 euros (includes 45 euros to ship).
While waiting for the parts to arrive I will be solvent cleaning parts, soda blasting some engine parts, get some repairs done to the old FPS aluminum wheels I bought out of Germany, get the 145/70R12 tires mounted, have the cylinder head rebuilt with the larger intake valves and all new valve guides, springs, and valves.

And so it begins. Here's a pic of the wheels I posted sometime ago.

I am going to make a separate post about my experiences in ordering parts from Europe to the USA and some comments about some of the suppliers and their web sites. Should be valuable to those in North America.

Hi jjacob. I ordered all my parts from Axel Gerstl in Germany they are cheap, good quality ,really concise and clear catalogue and on 15€ transport to Spain ( but different for you I presume) and they speak good English.

Huge difference in shipping cost between any of the European suppliers shipping within Europe vs. USA. At least in the USA we do not have to pay the 21% VAT. That is removed from shipments to non-EU countries.

Will you have to pay any import duties or taxes on parts shipped from Europe to the U.S. ?

I ordered ~$400(usd) of parts, including 2 tires, from fiat500ricambi in 2015 and got a bill from UPS a week after delivery to reimburse them for the $15 customs fee that they paid on my behalf. Last summer I ordered another $250 of small parts, no tires, and didn't get any kind of customs/import bill...so maybe it's based on weight or total value?

Not really sure. I have received orders from Italy that were in the $50 range and there was no extra customs tax upon entry. Also received a $250 order from a supplier in Germany and again no extra customs tax. Often these taxes are paid upfront by the shipper through the shipping company (UPS, FedEx, etc.). I think that when UPS sends you a bill after shipment it is because the estimated customs taxes were higher. In the case of Pazzo500 the tires may have had some additional tax.
I'll report once the shipment arrives. Right now the shipment is delayed one week because they are waiting for one part to be delivered by their supplier.

Good luck with the parts. I'm terrible when it comes to ordering. I always forget something, or comes across something I wasn't expecting etc. and end up placing lots of orders with delivery charges on each. It's bad enough Netherlands/Germany/Italy to the UK, but to the US I'd be crippled in delivery charges and delays! ;)

I'd have to become a lot more disciplined. :)

Cheers, Steve

Steve,
I did not order any parts until both engine and transmission were completely torn down and all parts measured. Made notes in my shop on what parts were needed. I then made a spreadsheet with each part and a column for each supplier. Compared prices and shipping costs for each.
I did this for exactly the reasons you state, cost of shipping for multiple orders.
