But seriously, I would never deliberately "distress" an item or try to accelerate its patination. What I like is to see how the new items or paintwork, which you have no choice but to replace or repair, as they gradually lose their newness and become a comfortable part of the car.
All the same, I'm going to Google that patinated paint.

I think it looks awesome, would love to get my caravan looking like that....
