I was driving along and i could smell burning oil the car has recently been
re-built. Had to rush in to garage to buy some oll to get the car home.i haven't
had time to investigate due to very cold weather. would like to get some feed back.

Check your oil pressure sender. Maybe defective or not bolted down tight enough.

Push rod tubes !!

...and so many other things. You really need to have a look where the stains are; that will probably tell you more than we can. But I would add, check the oil filler cap has a seal and is down tight and check the dipstick is there and seated properly.
