Hi, Where is the VIN Number on a 1959 Bianchina?
Also what should the full VIN number look like? How many digits?
Thank you for the help.

Tony,

I had a bit of a dig around and have attached a couple of photos. As the Bianchina is based on the Fiat 500, the VIN will probably be stamped into the firewall somewhere in the front compartment behind the wheel arches. There should also be an ID plate in the same area.

I believe that the number prefix varied depending on the series of car (suicide doors vs standard doors) much like the 500s. For example, early rear hinged, suicide door cars were designated 110B, later front hinged door models something like 110DBA.

Thank you Bambino! Great information and very helpful. I looked and I can see where the VIN plate was in the front luggage compartment behind the right front wheel well on the firewall. I am hoping that it has just been painted over but it doesn't look like it. I can't see any evidence at all of the VIN stamp. I took a couple of photos below. Any other ideas before I start scraping off paint?

I think it's there Tony, just below where the plate was. It's very shallow and hard to read. When my car was officially checked over the inspector needed a flashlight and hid reading glasses to see it.

Thank you for the help. I believe it is there as well. I feel confident enough to scrape some paint off to confirm. I also got a new Bianchina VIN Tag from Mr. Fiat that I will have stamped with the VIN once I confirm it. Thanks again.

Humour me. You can see where the id plate goes on your car because the holes are still there.

Have a look from the inside of the car and see if you can see the stamping or even a shadow of it.

I can't see it on mine but there are a couple of extra layers of paint in my car.

I had a similar issue on my car, I masked off the area, scraped off the paint (back to bare metal) and then painted that bare section with a clear finish. Looks neat, no surface rust.

Thank Tjmra, that is exactly what I was thinking of doing with the clear coat.
After reading your post I looked to see if I could see anything from the inside but no luck. I think I will be removing some paint this weekend right under the spot where the VIN plate was.

Also I got a replacement VIN plate from Mr. Fiat that I plan on having stamped.

That's a good question. Anyone know where to get a new replacement VIN plate stamped?

Thank for you help!
