Is there a right side up?

With all my replacement gaskets, they look identical on both sides. There's no wording, stamping, label, etc. The only difference between the two sides is that there's a little bit more of the metal ring around the opening showing on one side.

Just want to play it safe and not have to tear the top of the engine back down...

I don't know for sure Bob but I suspect the side with more metal would go block side as that is where the most heat is. That is the way around I fitted mine.

The head gasket normally has ALTO stamped on it, otherwise it should go on one way. The head gasket should have the fatter steel ring facing up (top or ALTO)and the narrower ring down facing down towards the bores/cylinders

I was thinking that the fatter steel ring on the head gasket and exhaust gaskets should face the area of combustion...
