General Fiat 500 Videos

I think one of these videos posted has a few seconds of Gordon Murray, designer of some of the greatest cars ever, talking about how he owns one and his discussion centers on the 'packaging.' It's a great car with more soul than any car coming out of Italy in my mind, but hearing a designer discuss the car as a piece of automotive genius added a completely new dimension to these amazing cars for me.

I Love the fact that they took along a spare engine

That was my engine. Since the rest of my car is in prices it was the best I could do. I must say it kept me busy answering questions throughout the day and it had its fair share of papperazzi buzzing around.

Brisbane band Elko Fields decided a Bambino was just right for their latest video... the subwoofer doesn't quite fit in the boot but the sound system is not bad.

This is worth a watch if you love Italian cars and of course the little 500
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episod...ds-big-continental-road-trip-series-1-1-italy

I tried to watch it but he gets on my nerves :D and it was winter which seems wrong for Italian cars in Italy.
I fast-forwarded to the Fiat 500 and it seemed to be all about the "fashion-guru's" legs (not complaining :)) and Paul Hollywood patronising her with "his" knowledge of Fiat 500 facts he probably got from Wikipedia.

Like all TV shows that include the 500, they missed the mark completely for me. (n)

An electric conversion; not as sophisticated as the USA Giardiniera posted a few months ago. Interesting, but I disagree with a lot of the reviewer's opinions about the petrol-engined experience. Also, I'm pretty sure my Meatloaf Murf has a similar performance and is probably better up hills!

Go on who’s going to be sad enough to count how many times he said “Fiat 500” in that video?:D What car was it again?

Quite impressive and tidy install though. Odd that they kept the non synchro box on it.

At least it wasn't "Fee-Aat 500", which irritates me when reviewed by our enthusiastic, colonial friends. :D

I think that on the Giardinera conversion which cropped-up previously, you didn't need to change gear much; in fact it might have been locked in third. You're probably not expected to use the gears as much because the electric motor has a lot of torque so it's driven differently. The box was very whiny like the one I've just removed; I wonder if it's actually the normal sound that I was trying to eliminate? :bang:

I think that anyone who wants to replace the Fiat 110F (and I had better say 120F) series engines with an electric motor and gives the reason for this as being because they don't have much regard for those original engines, doesn't fully appreciate the amazing qualities of the car in the first place.:)

Yeah I gathered that about the gearchange as I think he only used 2nd around town and 3rd on the open road. It was interesting, as you pointed out, that when he was cruising along and not putting his foot down, it didn’t sound that much different from the normal 500. All you could hear was the transmission whine. :D

It would be interesting to see what it goes like when it’s up to 100%. Did you see the 500 on Facebook with the turbo fitted?
