Technical Struggling with rubber "bolts"

Peter get a bowl of boiling water and drop them in leave them a couple of minutes and give them a squirt of duck oil or alike, WD40 and push them down with your thumb, twisting them at the same time and they should pop in, hopefully.

No probs I initially struggled with a lot of the rubbers that protect the doors, bonnet and engine lid but found the method above made life a lot easier. If you can get on the other side of them and pull the ends it helps but you have to be really careful as you can snap the ends off. Once you get the lip of one bit in you should be able to twist the rubber and it should pop into place. The worse one was the big rubber bung on the bonnet stop, I think I had to trim some the rubber off with a Stanley knife or should I same Gummi's???????

If they are the type that has a hole almost the full length I use a blunted small screwdriver/nail/piece of coathanger wire to push them into place.
The blunting is to stop the 'tool' from going all the way through, as you push the rubber bolt lengthens and become smaller in diameter allowing easy entry into the hole, lubrication optional.
