Yes the indicators flash Tony. Just no dash light and no clicking noise like the old one. They are sending me another one so we'll see. Who knew indicators could be so complex?

Have they sent you one of these little black box flasher units? If so you won't get the clicking like the old ones as the new ones are electronic. No contacts or anything old school like heating wires up!

No its a classic car round silver one the same as was fitted originally

I found that the old stylee ones were rubbish so modded upgraded to the black electronic box....much clickier and faster too. It also works well with the LED panel bulb, the earthing of which (in an "F" at least) can be quite a dodgy issue which causes problems.

That's because you're car is so heavily modded.:D

Come on your modding mind must have drifted into thoughts about disc brakes on the front now that you are driving such a powerful beast? Even I have considered it, if I ever find time to fit the 650 engine!

My modding has so far extended to a 123 distributor and an LED bulb in the rear view mirror!

Tony said the new ones dont click. If this third one is unsucessful I think I might have to upgrade. How do the dash lights get earthed? Is it just by the fact they touch the metal dash?

Yes, and it can be a bad connection bulb/holder or holder/ dash. :(

Meaning: you have to bare some of your lovely painted metal at the perimeter of the hole through the dash; just a little roll of sandpaper or a file to abrade the very edge. If you have any of that electrical grease, shove a sliver of that on it too. You must have an earth of some kind or it wouldn't glow at all, but it might help to do this.

:D:D:D

If it was a straight swap with "off-the-shelf" components at a reasonable price (<£300), I would go for disc-brakes now. But having previously driven a 1930's car with cable brakes I think I can cope.

As for the 123...it's gathering dust in the attic because my current engine runs so well without it! :D

The new indicator relay turned up yesterday but its the same as the other one. I get one flash of the light on the dash and then nothing. I decided to take one apart to see what was going on inside. Just a circuit board so never going to get a clicking noise from it. Put the multimeter on it and you get nothing from the wire to the dash light. The indicators work but I want the dash light to work and I want a clicking noise as well. I'm going to have to buy another one but before I do can someone recommend one that they know will definately work?

I got mine from VdL and I think it's a Hella. It's a black cube but who sees it and who cared anyway...it clicks loud and fast. I think you'll easily Find one on eBay or an accessory shop. I can't say it will solve the dash problem though. :(

You don't need a fiat item.
Any 12v negative earth three pin item will suffice.
You can have my original Fiat one if you want it. I've fitted a different item to allow LED....theres no load so you require a different item.
I can now run clear front lenses in the UK with twin coloured LED lamps...very nice...and road legal... (most of my car is pushing what's allowed)
