Hi folks, thought it was about time I cleaned out the centrifrugal oil filter today - having owned the car for two and a half years, I thought it was time !!
Below pictured is the filter with loads of acumulated compacted sludge, so a scrape out with a screw driver and a soak in some gunk bought it up nicely, theres also a pic of all the goo that came out - yuk !
Also decided to drop the sump off and give that a clean out, I was quite pleased to not find anything apart from oil, there was no nasty bits of metal etc.
Also a warning of the nasty pressed exhaust brackets, on my way from stanford hall last week, one decided to eject from the car, upon retreival from the middle of the road, the bracket had sheared off taking the stud out of the side of the block, checked my other bracket today, it looks to be going the same way - might be worth checking on your little motors, so you dont go through what I did last week
Hope this is usefull, doing the oil filter is nothing to be feared, all you need is double jointed wrists, and a 10mm spanner !!!
