500 (Classic) 500 Restoration

Introduction

Thought some of you may be interested in a restoration that I'm carrying out. Its a 500 Giardiniere (gardeners van) or in the UK its an estate or station wagon if you live in the USA. I have been told (but this is unconfirmed) that there are only 6 left on the road in the UK which makes it a pretty rare thing. I'm not going to bore you with lots of words suffice to say that if the panels I replace are painted they are bought in, everything else is hand made by yours truely.
Hope you enjoy.

Waiting for the next update.
What a great project.
It seems that the original bodyshell was just a piece of rust held together with strips of steel. It is fascinating to see how you have worked together the old and the new. More power to you.

you are to be congratulated 'gazzol' on a superb restoration job. As a young lad, my parents had a Giardiniera' as the family car (mum, dad, 3 boys and quite often my 50inch long model racing yacht!)--this followed as having an original 'Multipla'. When I worked at Radbourne Racing, the works van was the Autobianchi van version (Fiat half owned Autobianchi if I remember correctly and built both veraions of the Giardy as well as the Primula, which eventually became the Fiat 128 and were used by Fiat for short, pre-model develoment runs). The Radbourne van had a '650' conversion on it and was on record one day of traversing the Marylebone flyover, 2-up with an engine in the back at just over 70mph!!--2 question; how much of the original car has been retained and where abouts in the Uk are you?--keep up the good work, it is an inspiration:)

i must be the owner of that one, i know of 4 more in tassie needing resto but owners won't sell
