Hate to be contraversial, but there was quite a few 500 owners who wanted a classic 500 area on the forum - where is everyone now - is everyone gone a bit shy? Has no one got anything to say??

I'm here lurking, but I have enough one way conversations on the retro500 forum so I've been waiting to see what others post....

or failing that you could do like the punto section and take it in turns to post threads asking how much bigger rims you could fit without actually breaking anything.
actually that would be great on here, a 500 on 18s would just look like a monster truck!
Just, you know, keep it going. You guys are the heritage bit, it's not like the rest of us see 500s very often so it's nice to nose in here and remember what originally made small Fiats great!

Or rather in our case, it would be "how many times have you replaced your king pins this year?" or "so when do you plan to fit YOUR 123 electronic igntion unit then?"

or even............

"How many people did YOU make smile today?" (y)

There only seems to be a few of us active - what happened to all those that campaigned for this?? I know oopsidaisy is on holiday, and shanill is still active - perhaps the rest are in hybernation !!

126's VERY Welcome :slayer:- lets face it they are the same car aside from the body shell !!

As for seat runners, guess theeasiest way would be use a spot weld remover (an attatchment you can get for a drill ) then re-weld new ones in place?? Tell me if i'm barking up the wrong tree !!:D

Anyone on here got my old 500L reg no. PWL259J. Turned up on ebay 3 or 4 months ago needing a resto. I did what I presume was the last one in 85/86 with all new panels.

Hello and thanks for joining us!

I usually keep a close watch on what comes up on Ebay, and it always fascinates me that sometimes an absolute shed will sell for £1k + and then a nice example will go for only a bit more.

What colour and model was yours?

Just noticed - 500L - doh!

I might have a spare siting in the garage - tempt me with goodies and it might be up for grabs !!:D

Hello oopsadaisy,
I was a bit surprised myself as I sold it to my mother then on to someone at her work around 1987, I'd bought myself a new 126 fsm by this stage and my wife refused to drive a manual car.

As you noticed it was a rhd 500L,it was originally positano yellow with a see through floor but ended up as a bright red car. It is going back 20+ years but I wasn't able to get rear quarters or wheel arch panels at the time so had to get an extra set of front wings and use the arches on the opposite rear quarters as they are almost identical.

I also fitted a 600cc engine from a 126 as they always felt a bit better than the 650cc to me together with the synchro gearbox and 500 drive shafts.

Tumble Weed # 2

I have been pondering why things are quieter on this forum that I would have expected.

One thing that did occur to me is that our baby is tucked up snug and warm in his cosy garage in this weather, and whilst all the salt is on the roads I would be very reluctant to let him out to play.

I suspect other owners may feel the same?

As our little cars are somewhat prone to the dreaded metal worm, perhaps we cosset them more than most at this time of year.

Hence maybe the reason for the forum being quiet?

I have the usual list of 'must do' jobs for the winter, but on weighing up either sitting in front of the fire and the box with a cuppa or trecking down to an unheated garage armed with tools etc........ nah!
