Can anyone help with a balancing percentage or formula for the crankshaft on a 695cc big bore kit?? thanks Dave

Hi Dave I can't answer your question but I can pass on one tip. I have a mate that runs possibly the most powerful 695ccs engine on the planet. His engine ticks over like a sewing machine which is amazing as it is highly tuned with a flywheel less than 3kgs. He built his own engine balancing machine and pointed out that having the crankshaft filled with oil makes quite a lot of difference when balancing as most companies do not go to this extent. Being nosey are you running this engine in a 126 as I know that they are ultra rare in NZ ?

Hi Toshi 975, building a motor for my 500f -yes 126's hard to find now in NZ

If you do not mind me asking where are you located ? I make an annual trip to NZ as we love it there plus I get to catch up with my Son's family with the two grandchildren. Back in November for a 3 month stay and located in Rotorua. I have yet to see a running 500 in NZ. I have only seen the wrecks in the Horopito yard plus cars in the museum north of Wellington, the museum in Hamilton and the rather quirky museum at Tirau. The only 126 I have seen there was mounted high up on a big pole outside a used car lot somewhere towards the east coast from Rotorua. I have been known to pop the odd Fiat tuning part in my checked luggage, weight permitting.

I'm located in Palmerston North, Hopefully by November thr 500f will be mobile..!

Hi Dave, I would suggest that you ask your balancing question in the 500 classic section rather than the 126 section as there are many guys there with tuning experience and engine projects. On the subject of NZ I must have been quite near you on my last road trip as we visited the Tui brewery and nearly stayed overnight in Palmerston but decided to get a little nearer home and put up in Havelock North. You are not far from one of my favourite NZ drives which I have done twice. Highway 43 known as the Forgotten World Highway which would be great to drive in a 500 and that extra power you are planning would be pretty useful :)

Thanks for the tip.., I have also posted in the classic 500 section.
Tui Brewery a nice place - often frequent it on a Sunday arfternoon..
Yes SH43 would be a great drive in the ol 500.. once it's up and running I can tick a few off the bucket list.! Cheers Dave
