I have had an issue with my 82 Air Cooled and need to find a replacement crankcase. I have found spare motors available but the freight on a full unit is a killer, so thinking a bare crankcase might be affordable and get me rebuilding what I have ? Anyone ?

There a German based company and I've found them very good. Not sure on postage to where you are but it may be a case of just having to pay for it unless you can find one locally?

If you have a 500 and go for a 126 crankcase you will also have to source a 126 bell housing and starter motor. Shipping rates to NZ are much better from Germany and Poland rather than the UK if you are looking at heavy parts. You might be better off having a 500 crankcase bored out to take bigger barrels and pistons. I have converted one 499ccs engine to a 652 and another to a 594.
