Hello, I have two questions about parts in my spider that seem to do nothing that I am unsure of what they actually do.

1) I was recently cleaning up some old, unused cables in the '79 Spider and I noticed a switch that seamed to do nothing. I found a car for sale on eBay and noticed the switch is on the center console behind the shifter (image below). If you could let me know what it is that would be much appreciated.



2) there is a lever behind the turn signal lever that only has two settings, down and up. Does anyone know what this is for?

Switch on the centre console should be the 3 position (off - low - high) heater fan speed switch.

Lever behind the turn signal switch is the headlamp high/low beam change over switch.

Oh okay, thank you. The lever must not have been hooked up because I thought it might have been a high low beam switch but it never changed. The heater fan switch however was hidden inter the glove box by the previous owner.

1) Pass

2) Think this is the headlamp dipped / main beam switch

Gonna take a blind guess here; it's not hazard lights or something is it?

I guess it could be the remnants of the heater switch? Not sure why you'd hide it in the glove box and leave the switch though.
